Post Music Project Seeking Art
Hi Everyone,

I am a keyboard player/vocalist who writes electronic rock music with space/sci-fi lyrical themes. I am hoping to release a 3 track demo sometime around the 3rd quarter of 2010 and I need to have artwork to go along with it.

This will be the first time I have ever released my music. It is recorded at home in my study. I am totally unknown and have never made a cent from my music, I am just a guy with a keyboard, a computer and a dream. I don't even have a live show but I am hoping to change that soon. This 3 track demo will be released for free via my own website (currently non-existant). I am a seasoned web programmer and can easily build the web site myself but I am NOT a visual artist, so I need art that I can use to build the site.

I am looking for new art to be made based on the songs along with a brief on the subject matter given by me. I am looking for an artist who can do "complete scenes" not just a ship on a mostly blank or blurry background. I will probably want at least 3 or 4 pieces plus a band logo.

I am also looking to have some kind of perpetual exclusive licence or copyright ownership so I can have the art associated with my songs in perpetuity and also be able to use the art to promote my music however I see fit (CDs, t-shirts, stickers, posters, etc) without having to asking for additional permissions or pay extra money. In the short term there are no plans to produce any physical product but that may change depending on how the tracks are received. I've never done anything like this, so I have no idea how this is normally done or what is considered a fair deal. I welcome any discussion to educate me on this matter.

I am not averse to paying for the work, but this whole thing is still in the realm of being a "hobby project" for me. Everything else has been done on a shoestring and the whole lot is being released for free. Anything more than a few hundred dollars all up is just going to be beyond the budget for me. I am kind of hoping to find someone in the same boat as me, an emerging artist who is interested in the challenge and happy just to have something up with their name on it for their portfolio.

The artist would get full credit for the art and I would also be happy to put a short bio up on the website on our "About" page with a link back to you.

There is no great hurry on this at the present, I have no idea how long it will take to find the right artist and get the work done, so I am getting in early (I hope). The tracks are mostly written and recorded but I want to be able to put on a live performance for the launch and I haven't even started that phase of production yet. As I said at the top, I am hoping to launch in the 3rd quarter of this year.

If you are interested then please post a link to your portfolio. I don't have a bias towards any particular medium, I like traditional just as much as 3D.

Cheers,
Sam
